Russia Bans YouTube

July 29, 2010

A Russian ISP is forced to block YouTube because a “racist video.” The Guardian reprted this recent court decision follows a long line of decision limiting information through the Internet.

Attorneys websites get page one ranking on the search engines. This may seem unrelated to law firms marketing in America. It is, but it demonstrates a key strategy you can use to make your law firm website more relevant to Google, Yahoo and Bing. Current information added to you website that is being searched frequently adds to your authority with the search engines. When CNN and FoxNews publicize this, as this First Amendment issue certainly will be, your law firm’s website will benefit.

I also like to remind attorneys of the importance of law firm videos. Most of us have some hesitation of seeing ourselves on video, but we are seeing consistent search results including videos on the search engines. As of this morning there are more than 94,000 videos tagged with lawyers. On average YouTube is searched more than Yahoo or Bing. Choosing against having a video is foregoing the client who use it.
